Media Accreditation

The Melbourne International Film Festival invites Australian and international journalists to participate in the Festival under the following conditions:

  • Journalists are asked to actively cover the festival in their affiliations.
  • The Publicity Office asks you to send, as soon as possible after publication, printed or audiovisual proof(s) of your MIFF 2007 coverage.
  • Renewed accreditation is based, in part, on the receipt of proof(s) of your coverage.
  • Press accreditation to the Melbourne International Film Festival is entirely up to the discretion of the Publicity Office.
  • Request for press accreditation received after June 27, 2008 will not be processed.

Applying for Press Accreditation

To receive the required accreditation form, you must first send an application to the Publicity Office in accordance with the conditions below. Please note: If you were accredited in 2007 you will automatically receive your personalised accreditation by early July via post or email. In some cases, evidence of press cuttings or broadcast details of last year’s Festival coverage may be required as part of the application.

Information about the affiliation for which you request accreditation and the type of coverage you are planning.
After receiving the press accreditation request, you will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible. Please keep us updated, via media@melbournefilmfestival.com.au on changes in your affiliation and/or address, so you will receive your press accreditation form in time and at the appropriate adress.

Please Note: Journalists applying for the first time should submit two pieces of recent film coverage to support their application.

Returning journalists - If the MIFF Press Office did receive proof of your coverage of the 2007 festival or has pertinent reasons for a renewed invitation, you will automatically receive a letter of invitation by email. We ask that you respond via email if you wish to accept the 2008 accreditation.

Submission for Press Accreditation - All journalists are required to submit their application form, filled in completely and legibly to:

The deadline for Press Accreditation for The Melbourne International Film Festival is Friday 27 June 2008. The Festival cannot guarantee accreditation for applications received after the deadline date.

Confirmation of Press Accreditation - When applications have been processed and accepted, a confirmation letter will be sent out via fax or email. Festival Accreditation Packs will be posted to the supplied mailing address in the week prior to the start of the festival.

Loss of Badge - The loss of an accreditation badge must be reported to the publicity office immediately.

Approval or Denial of Accreditation - The Festival reserves the right to approve or deny any accreditation. We look forward to seeing you at the Festival.
