Edward Yang Tribute

When Edward Yang passed away last year, aged 59, the world lost one of the great modernist filmmakers. MIFF 2008 salutes Yang by presenting all seven features made by the Taiwanese New Wave director, including his masterpiece A Brighter Summer Day, presented in its rarely seen, definitive four-hour version.

Read an essay on Edward Yang by Keeto Lam entitled The Age of Independence is Still Here with Us.

Information on our Tribute to Edward Yang.

If you are interested in reading about cinema, check out Senses of Cinema, one of the longest running on-line film journals and produced right here in Melbourne. Senses of Cinema will be running daily reviews throughout the Festival.
