MIFF Mayhem
After kicking off with a bang last Friday night – with pyrotechnics both on and off the screen at the Opening Night premiere of Not Quite Hollywood – MIFF continued to deliver thrills and chills with a zombie gathering for George A. Romero's premiere of Diary of the Dead, even as cinema-goers binged on the cinematic mayhem of opening weekend.

Filmmaker Rusty Nails presents his work-in-progress documentary on MIFF guest George A. Romero, Dead On: The Life and Cinema of George A. Romero, with a Q&A with Rusty Nails following the screening.
French director Serge Bozon, fresh from rocking the Coopers Festival Lounge on Saturday night with a 60s-tinged DJ set, presents a screening of Mods and Etoile Violette, with a Q&A to follow the screening.
Geoffrey Rush presents a film that had a profound impact on him, Fred Schepisi's classic of Australian cinema, The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith. Features a post-screening Q&A with Geoffrey Rush and Fred Schepisi.

Charity Screening
MIFF’s Charity Partner, the Melbourne Citymission, have an annual Homeless Campaign to raise money for the 23,000 Victorians who are homeless each night. MIFF, with the help of the Rooftop Cinema & Rialto Films, are doing their bit to raise some money and awareness, with a special outdoor Festival screening of the Rialto Film, ‘YOUNG @ HEART’ at the Rooftop Cinema. Come snuggle up under a blanket, under the stars! Enjoy a treat from the Rooftop BBQ, mulled wine or a hot chocolate and let that warm fuzzy feeling of doing something good keep the winter chills away! Ticket & blanket hire proceeds will go straight to the Melbourne Citymission's 2008 Homelessness Campaign.
