Today's Highlights

Melbourne seems to have finally been granted a little sunshine – but with so much quality cinema on hand, who needs it? Just a few highlights from today's films:

The Polish film Tricks is a enchanting story of a brother and sister in a small Polish town, with a dash of magic realism; it is one of Executive Director Richard Moore’s picks of the Festival (5.00pm at Greater Union).

The riotous Anvil! The Story of Anvil is a compelling, hilarious and touching almost-rockumentary about two friends, rocking well into their 50s, that never gave up on the dream of fame (7.00pm at Greater Union).

A masterpiece of Romanian cinema, The Death of Mr Lazarescu is a darkly humerous look at the plight of a man lost in the shuffle of a hospital bureaucracy (9.00pm at ACMI).
