THE TRAVELLING FILM FESTIVAL

The Travelling Film Festival was established in 1998 and has grown to consist of 11 venues throughout the year which is divided into two tours, the first being in March/April and the second in Sept/Oct including places such as Geelong, Frankston, Echuca, Shepparton, Launceston, Devonport, Mount Gambier, Wangarratta, Warrnambool, Castlemaine and Belgrave. The festival consists of 8 films screened over 3 consecutive days. Some have screened at Melbourne International Film Festival, all have received critical acclaim on the International Festival circuit.

The continued success of the Travelling Film Festival indicates there is a strong demand in regional Australia for independent cinema, especially when presented in a festival context. Festivals are supported by local cinema management, film societies, local councils, and the local media.

The Melbourne International Film Festival is a non-profit organisation, and the Travelling Film Festival could not operate without generous support from Arts Victoria and the Australian Film Commission.
